The unit of "Research and innovation" of the IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza hospital is in the staff of the chief executive officer. The unit is also in the staff of the scientific director for the scientific research area.

The Research and innovation unit follows research and technological development projects to grant to the hospital competitiveness on both national and international extents in the medical and ICT fields. We consolidate and create new partnerships with research entities and industrial partners to build industrial and experimental research projects.

The main objectives of the unit are:

• Participation to research calls to finance research projects in the field of technological development;
• Development of informatics tools to support the clinical activity;
• EU research projects support and management;
• Collaboration with the staff of the scientific director for the accounting and budgeting activities.
